MacKenzie Plommer - MES Alumna
Mackenzie successfully completed her MES program and began work as a Research Assistant at the Simcoe Research Station with OMAFRA. Congratulations Mackenzie!
Mackenzie is an MES student in the School of Environmental Science. She is studying the effects of high tunnel greenhouse production on pests and diseases of high-value organic vegetable crops in Southern Ontario. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the University of Guelph in 2015. Afterwards, was immediately interested in continuing her education at the University of Guelph through graduate school. Having Cynthia Scott-Dupree as an undergraduate professor intrigued her interest in agricultural research in entomology and Integrated Pest and Disease Management.
Mackenzie has had a love for the outdoors and agriculture as a young girl and continued to chase her dreams in this field of study as she grew older. Studying pest and disease management in plant agriculture allows her to combine her passion and interest in the agricultural industry while broadening her knowledge in the topics and issues of environmental science. Overall, her goal for obtaining an MES is to expand her knowledge and research skills to pursue a career in agricultural research.
